A Note From Dale
The Seed
A seed rests in the ground waing for the touch of God’s
Grace. It is dark with only glimpses of light occasionally perme-
ang the dampness of the soil. Tentavely the seed begins to
grow…. The ground is not only dark and damp, but full of barri-
ers refracng the light or pulling at the young roots. In deter-
minaon, and somemes desperaon, the young sproung
seed cries out to his Creator. God’s Spirit tells him to keep his
eyes on the Light and when he can’t see it to trust that it is sll
there. Courage replaces trepidaon as the developing
sproung seed pushes toward the Light. Then, one day, that
sprout pushes through the darkness into the Light and realizes
that God has been providing him with life and direcon all
along his journey. Salvaon has been revealed and the dark-
ness has fallen away. And yet, part of him sll rests in the
damp darkness. Now a plant maturing and growing in the pres-
ence of the Light wonders what it would be like to be totally
free of the darkness. God’s Spirit again speaks to the plant say-
ing, trust the Salvaon of Christ, God’s Son, every day and eve-
ry night and then even though part of you remains in that dark
world, it will have no control over you. In gladness and thanks-
giving, the plant trusts the Word of the Lord and connues to
grow reecng God’s Handiwork to all who look upon it.
